Camera Settings

RAW vs JPEG File Sizes

RAW files contain unprocessed sensor data. A 24MP camera at 14-bit produces ~28MB uncompressed; most cameras apply lossless compression bringing it to ~22-28MB. JPEG files are processed in-camera with lossy compression — typically 6-12MB for a 24MP image at high quality.

Memory Card Planning

For events and travel, bring cards totaling 3× your expected shot count — camera buffers, burst shooting, and unexpected opportunities all consume more storage than planned.
